Young Film Programmers

The Palace is part of the Young Film Programmer’s Network established in 2017 by Film Hub South East to connect and support film programming groups of young people age 16-25.

In 2018-19 the Palace’s Benshi Young Programmers met regularly to increase their knowledge of independent film and have the opportunity to programme, plan, market and present five screening events.

These included a special screening of the classic J-horror RING (1998) + Q&A with the distributor, an all-singing all-dancing ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975), a family screening of MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO (1988) + origami workshop, a GREMLINS (1984) Christmas special complete with headless gremlin cookies, and a collaboration on the short film programme for Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival.

We’re working now with young programmers on the Palace Passport Project and look forward to re-launching a regular Young Film Programmers group soon.
