We have put measures in place to ensure that we are as inclusive a cinema as possible, although our historic building presents some challenges when it comes to creating accessibility.
Booking
Book tickets as normal through the website and then email us info@thepalacecinema.co.uk to let us know that you require a wheelchair space and/or seats for those accompanying you.
- Registered disabled – Concessionary ticket prices
- CEA card – Free entry for one accompanying carer. The CEA scheme is run by UK Cinema Association in partnership with national disability charities. The person requiring assistance must be 8+ years old and receive Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Personal Independence Payment or Armed Forces Independence Payment, or hold Severely Sight Impaired Registration or Sight Impaired Registration. A CEA card costs £6 and is valid for one year; full details here
Our building
The cinema is on two floors and has two entrances:

- 2 steps up from the foyer to the auditorium (balcony: 23 seats).
- 13 steps with handrail both sides down from the foyer to the stalls’ seating. The stalls can also be accessed from our step-free side entrance foyer – please see below.
Side entrance (step-free)
- The side entrance can only be opened from the inside; please tell Palace staff at the box office if you would like to use it.
- Go through the Pavilion gate to left of cinema and down the slope with the handrail.
- At the disability ramp, our entrance is the black door on the right-hand side. The door is opened from the inside by Palace staff.
- From the rear foyer, the width of doorframe into the auditorium (stalls: 88 seats) is 74cm.
Wheelchair space
Please contact the Palace in advance of your visit to us if you would like to reserve our wheelchair space or enquire about folding/transferring.
- We have 1 wheelchair space in the stalls for a user who remains in the wheelchair. This wheelchair is on level floor in the aisle of the stalls.
- We have up to 3 storage spaces in the stalls for folding wheelchairs.
- Wheelchair access to the stalls is via our side entrance – see details above.
Disabled parking close to the Palace
- Broadstairs Harbour Car Park – 4 disabled bays
- Albion Street Car Park – 5 disabled bays
Disabled access to café and toilet facilities next to the Palace
The Palace’s neighbour on Harbour St is the Pavilion, great for a coffee or a drink before or after a film and the door is right next to the Palace’s side entrance! Find out all they have to offer here.
Guide dogs
Always welcome! Book tickets as normal through the website and then email us info@thepalacecinema.co.uk to let us know that you’ll be coming with your dog.
Buggies and babies
We welcome parents with babies to our family screenings in the school holidays. We’re sorry to no longer be running our dedicated Palace ‘Baby Day’ shows for parents with babies but we hope to again in the future! In the meantime:
- Unless otherwise taken by a wheelchair, we have space for 1 large buggy/pram in the stalls.
- Up to 3 storage spaces in the stalls for folding buggies.
- Male carers: Our baby change facilities are usually set up in the Ladies’ toilets; if you need them, please let us know.
- No ticket charge for people age 12 months and under.
We are sorry not to currently offer relaxed screenings or additional facilities for hearing and sight impaired audiences.
